It’s not her world . . . but why does it feel like home?

Hailey Trebber has no family to speak of, and her only companions are her best friend Chelsea and her moody cat Skritz. Her life’s not perfect, but she’s content. That is, until one night when an accident sends her careening into an alternate world, far from the modern one she’s used to. 

Trapped in an unfamiliar place, she finds herself in the care of carpenter Frank and his apprentice, Cullen, both of whom don’t hesitate to take her in and warn her about the dangers involved in her presence. For the king of the land will not falter in sending every last soldier of his to retrieve her if he hears so much as a whisper of her origins.

Even so, Hailey can’t help but be enthralled by the new world as she learns unprecedented things, makes some friends, and even finds a spark of love. But as the threats mount, and Hailey’s new world becomes too dangerous for her, she has to wonder if it’s better to be in constant fear of danger or to be safe but always yearning for a world she can never truly be a part of.
